Pickyourtrail Celebrates World Tourism Day by Planting Trees for a Greener Future

Chennai, 27th November 2024 – In honour of World Tourism Day, Pickyourtrail, one of India’s leading International Holiday brands, proudly announces its commitment to environmental sustainability. The company planted 200 trees in the rapidly expanding urban centers of Gurgaon and Chennai, contributing to a greener future. This initiative is undertaken in collaboration with Give Me Trees Trust, one of India’s largest community-driven tree planting and conservation movements, and Viruksham, an environmental awareness program by Mastermind Foundation focused on addressing global warming across India.

Recognising the significant carbon footprint of tourism, particularly through transportation and travel-related activities, Pickyourtrail aims to mitigate its environmental impact through this tree-planting initiative. The project is designed to offset emissions generated by the company’s operations and the travel experiences it facilitates, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change.

“We are acutely aware of the environmental costs of tourism, and as a responsible travel company, we believe we must lead by example. Planting trees is one of the most direct and powerful ways to counterbalance the carbon emissions linked to travel. Through this initiative, we’re not just committing to a greener future for our industry, but for the entire planet.” said Hari Ganapathy, Co-founder, Pickyourtrail.

In celebration of World Tourism Day, Lt Col N Thiagarajan, War Veteran and General Secretary of Mastermind Foundation, emphasized the importance of reducing the tourism industry’s carbon footprint through tree plantation initiatives. In his message, he encouraged young people to take active steps toward environmental protection and sustainable practices. Highlighting the role of tree plantations in carbon offsetting, he called for collective action to preserve the planet for future generations, aligning tourism with a greener, healthier future for all.
