“Jeevanline” India’s New 24/7 Suicide Helpline Offers Immediate Support

Chennai, September 10: On the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, the Mastermind Foundation, in association with The Mind Care and supported through CSR funding by Husky Injection Molding Systems, announced the launch of “Jeevanline” — a 24×7 suicide prevention helpline aimed at offering immediate psychological support to people in distress.

The helpline, which went live on Tuesday, is accessible via a toll-free number, the SOS button on The Mind Care mobile app, and the Jeevanline website. Calls are answered round the clock by trained psychologists, supported by an AI-enabled triage system that ensures urgent cases are prioritized. The service is available in Tamil, English, and Hindi.

Behind this initiative stands Dr. Lakshmi T.K., Founder-President of the Mastermind Foundation, who has been working in the field of mental health for over two decades. A psychologist and psychotherapist by training, she has been at the forefront of programmes supporting police personnel, prison communities, defence services, and youth across India. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation also ran one of the largest free counselling helplines, serving thousands of callers in multiple regional languages.

“Suicide is preventable. Behind every statistic is a son, a daughter, a parent, a friend. Every second matters when someone is in despair,” Dr. Lakshmi said at the launch. “Jeevanline is not just a helpline — it is a promise that no one will have to fight their darkest battles alone.”

The Mastermind Foundation, established in 2005, has reached more than 10 lakh individuals through workshops, training, and counselling sessions. Its work ranges from stress management workshops for armed forces to mental wellness programmes in prisons and community-based outreach.

For Husky Injection Molding Systems, the partnership reflects a broader commitment to mental health. “At Husky, we believe corporate social responsibility is about saving lives and building stronger communities,” said Kasi Rajendran, Director of Husky. “Supporting Jeevanline is our way of ensuring every person in crisis finds hope, care, and support when they need it most.”

Mental health experts have welcomed the initiative, noting the acute treatment gap in India where access to trained professionals remains limited. By providing free, confidential, and immediate support, Jeevanline is expected to serve as a critical safety net for vulnerable individuals.

The Foundation has appealed to the public and media to spread awareness of the service so that more people know where to turn in moments of crisis.
