President approves Tatrakshak Medals to six Indian Coast Guard personnel

The President has awarded President’s Tatrakshak Medal (PTM) and Tatrakshak Medal (TM) to the following Indian Coast Guard Personnel for their act of conspicuous gallantry, exceptional devotion to duty and distinguished/meritorious service on the occasion of the Republic Day 2023:

These awards are being given to the personnel of Indian Coast Guard on the occasion of Republic Day and Independence Day every year, since January 26, 1990.

INSPECTOR GENERAL ANAND PRAKASH BADOLA, COMMANDER COAST GUARD REGION (EAST)

He has conferred President’s Tatrakshak Medal for Distinguished Service in recognition of his outstanding performance and contributions in various capacities during his illustrious career spanning over three decades.

With this honour, the Flag Officer has joined the league of armed force officers decorated with the most medals for prominent and devoted service. The Flag Officer is a farsighted planner and executor with perfectionist touch. He has contributed immensely in the strive of Indian Coast Guard to mature into a highly professional and capable premier maritime force in just four decades. He has been pivotal in exemplary conduct of International Search & Rescue Exercise off Chennai in August 2022 wherein 16 friendly foreign countries participated, dosing of inferno onboard MV XPRESS PEARL off Sri Lanka in June 2021 saving many lives and preventing marine environmental havoc. Such synchronized efforts under his vigilant command reinforced India’s stature as prime maritime safety and security provider in the region and brought laurels to the nation. The highly coveted decoration of PTM is the second such award for the Flag Officer within a short span of time. Earlier, the Flag officer was awarded Tatrakshak Medal for Meritorious Service from Hon’ble Raksha Mantri in an impressive Investiture Ceremony held at Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi in October 2021.
Inspector General Anand Prakash Badola, joined the Indian Coast Guard in the year 1990. The Flag Officer is a specialist in Navigation and Direction and is an alumnus of prestigious US Naval Staff College, Newport, USA. On elevation to the Flag rank in May 2017, the Officer served as the Chief of Staff at the Headquarters of both Coast Guard Eastern & Western Seaboards. After successful tenure as Commander Coast Guard Region (West) at Mumbai from Dec 2019 to Jun 2021, the Flag Officer assumed Command of Coast Guard Region (East) Headquarter at Chennai wef 11 June 2021.
